MARS is currently seeking a Vice President, Client Service to work in our Manhattan office. This position is responsible for their team’s annual revenue and margin objectives as well as the development of in-depth knowledge and strong relationships with the client. Ideal candidates will have a solid working knowledge of CPG Brand Management and the Shopper Marketing space, with the ability to link consumer insights to the client’s business strategy and organize their team to deliver on behalf of the client. This candidate must be an “impact player” with extremely effective communication skills and an ability to bring thought leadership to the business. The VP, Client Service also must demonstrate proficiency in operations and promotion guidelines/procedures, and corporate organization. He/She should have a strong consumer marketing background.
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver breakthrough thinking in strategic planning sessions and in client/all agency summits
- Cultivate expert knowledge and contacts within the shopper marketing and consumer promotion fields
- Lead team, Account Directors/Account Managers in the development of an annual business plan in conjunction with stated or potential client needs
- Identify and communicate changing client business rules and priorities to internal financial management function
- Optimize the impact of customer insight in the creative/program development process by inspiring and partnering with Creative staff on your team
- Perform personnel reviews, coach and mentor direct reports to ensure succession planning
- Cultivate productive senior-level client relationships
- Demonstrate strong conceptual thinking skills
- Combine analytical rigor with creative problem-solving skills
- Translate client’s business objectives into marketing and communications objectives for the agency
- Negotiate contracts and fee arrangements as needed
- Forge relationships with outside partners/suppliers as needed
- Travel is required
What You Bring to Us:
- Bachelor’s degree in advertising, marketing, or related field. Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum 15 years experience in the CPG industry- with Tier 1 Manufacturers’ Marketing background and/or Shopper Marketing agency experience
- Dynamic personality able to effectively engage and influence a variety of audiences
- A wealth of industry knowledge including current trends, consumer packaged goods and retailer information, and business philosophies
- Motivational leadership, inspiring team to deliver top performance every day against assigned business
- Strategic thinking in the development of Shopper Marketing programs and management of day to day business
- Excellent written, presentation, management, listening and interpersonal skills
- Sound decision making skills based in agency, client, and industry knowledge
- Passion about business and dissatisfaction with status quo – always thinking of ways to improve/grow assigned client/business
