The candidate will be the local infrastructure representative for North America and provide guidance and direction to the team members with a steer from the global discipline leads covering DBA, SA, Networks, Storage and MQ.

The candidate will be able to design, build and manage small projects on their own based on a set of requirements; they will be able to distribute the result of their work efficiently and effectively to the global team for regional deployment and supervise its global deployment by other team members.  This activity will require sound knowledge of shell scripting, Oracle commands/features, documentation, project planning and excellent communication skills.

The performance of MarkitSERV’s applications is key to the success of the products we provide.  The candidate will be able to quickly identify and resolve, where appropriate, performance issues affecting the availability of the service.  The candidate should be able to provide advice to developers on how to re-structure the code to be more performant/efficient; they should be well versed in Oracle features that can assist in ensuring the consistent and predictable performance of our applications.  The candidate must be comfortable of working with developers in different time zones whilst maintain traction on current issues driving to resolution.

Any tools or features that the candidate can demonstrate previous use in with regards to performance testing of an application in a controlled non-production environment with a view to improving the performance will be advantageous.

The candidate must be competent in core production DBA skills.  They would be expected to perform documented failovers of production databases the their standby pairs.  They should be proficient in their understanding of RMAN and be able to resolve any issues that occur during the backup of a database, including the knowledge to throttle back the rate of the backup where required. 

A sound understanding of 11g clusterware and supporting concepts is essential.
