Vice President, HK Compliance recruitment

JOB PURPOSE
· To manage compliance risk for the HK market by providing advice, training, and managing relationships with regulators.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Advisory
· Provide compliance and regulatory advisory on an ongoing basis, covering all businesses in Hong Kong. Primary coverage: TSS, Commercial Banking, Private Banking, Credit Rates, CIO, GSOG. Secondary Coverage: Equities EDG, FO, Investment Banking Capital Markets Business
· Expert on HK regulations and provide advice to business, support functions and other core compliance team on existing and new regulations with more focus on HKMA related regulations
· Coordinate and manage consultation exercises and industry group discussions
· Review and sign-off new business initiatives documents, operational procedures and major operational and system changes
· Develop compliance policies and procedures

Compliance Coordinator for Commercial Banking
· Act as contact person for certain matter which requires regional coordination for commercial banking in Asia (e.g. coordination of the consolidation of compliance risk assessment exercise), while relying on location compliance in the respective countries to act as primary compliance coverage
· Helping US Commercial Banking Compliance to liaise with location compliance in Asia

Regulators
· Primary contact person with the HK regulators.
· Drive HK regulatory projects, applications
· Handle regulatory enquiries and investigations
· Lead management of regulatory inspections

Training
· Provide training where necessary and promote compliance culture

Other
· Develop a network of Compliance officers in peer institutions
· Provide timely reporting on Compliance issues to business and internally as appropriate.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
· Prompt escalation of identified Compliance issues to business management and through the OGC

· HK Regulators - SFC, HKMA, HKEx (with HKMA as focus)

Skills

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE

Language Skills:
· English
· Fluent Cantonese preferable.

Experience:
· More than 4 years Hong Kong market experience
· Law degree or other closely-related professional qualification
· Preferably good product knowledge
· Strong communications skills in English
· Good analytical and problem-solving skills
· Project management skills
· Control-focused
