Vice President, Strategy and Business Development, DNWE recruitment
You will play a key role in development of strategic projects at a region, LOB or local level. You will partner with our General Managers to assess regional opportunities, translating local vision into actionable plans that enhance the value of the organic business. Working with the DNWE (Discovery Networks Western Europe) Senior Management team you will have responsibility for developing and progressing the Corporate Development ‘wish list’.
Responsibilities:
Business Development:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities for DNWE
- Develop detailed business plans for the new business areas and investments
- Determine the strategic rationale and challenges for the new business options
- Develop implementation plans
Regional Strategy:
- Support CFO/COO in driving the strategic planning process, working closely with LOBs and London cross-functional teams
- Drive the strategic planning process by developing parameters and overall goals for the regional businesses
- Help identify project pipeline based on DNWE strategic priorities
- Develop presentations and rationales to secure approval of budgets and investments from DNI (Discovery Networks International) and DCI (Discovery Communications Inc.)
- Manage process for all board presentations and memos
- Along with CFO/COO, drive new initiatives identified in strategic plan (e.g. new channel development, portfolio optimisation, restructures in under-performing businesses etc)
- Help to establish processes to determine and communicate best practices to the organization
LOB Strategy:
- Working closely with GMs and other regional stakeholders, develop strategies for each LOB in DNWE
- Work with local executive teams to identify growth strategies for their businesses
- Advise GMs on allocation of resources across the business
- Partner with HR on the resourcing implications of strategic plans
- Provide strategic insight and advise to local management to help formulate the best decisions/action plans for issues and challenges facing the business
Management, Analytics Process:
- Manage business development project pipeline Write work-plans, manage efficient data gathering process with relevant stakeholders
- Provide rigorous analytical fact base to all projects and generate useful insights
Requirements:
- Degree educated, MBA graduate or equivalent preferred
- Experience in top tier Management Consulting firm a must
- Exceptional analytical skills required
- A conceptual mind-set
- Ability to build valuation models and business plans
- International media experience
- Comfortable with ambiguity and ability to drive hypothesis-driven project
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
- Proven track record of working in a matrix organisation
- Proven track record of effectively managing multiple stakeholders and projects
