Amazon Instant Video (AIV) is seeking an encoding expert that can drive video quality improvements and act as the subject matter expert on video encoding. AIV currently has a catalog of over 100 000 movies and TV episodes and is constantly adding new titles. The catalog of content is supported on over 300 different types of devices. This is a unique opportunity to influence the video experience for a large and growing customer base. The AIV technical encoding expert will join an experienced and energetic engineering organization that is responsible for driving the development and operation of a video platform responsible for encoding and delivering a high quality video experience for Amazon customers. In this role, you?ll combine your encoding skills with your ability to work with partners to drive change with software encoding vendors, encoding houses and the integration between them and AIV. Ideally, you have deep hands-on experience in using video encoding tools and have excellent communication skills to share your knowledge with a diverse audience, from developers to technology executives. Roles Responsibilities Responsibilities: Subject matter expert for the video encoding team with responsibility for optimizing the video quality for AIV and LOVEFiLM Manage relationship and drive improvements with encoding and video quality control vendors Manage relationship and drive improvements with processing houses and the integration with those vendors for international expansion
