- Provide thought leadership to drive clinical innovation throughout Verisk Health software
- Work collaboratively with all aspects of the organization (Product Solutions, Development, Operations, and Sales) to drive clinical innovation throughout every aspect of the organization in a manner which is efficiently integrated into solutions applicable to a broad client base
- Actively manage a talented, diverse team
- Work closely with a very talented team of Doctors, Registered Nurses, Statisticians, and Technical Analysts to ensure everyone is achieving to their maximum potential while simultaneously challenging individual growth
- Represent clinical informatics throughout the organization as senior leader within the firm
- Guide creation and refinement of all clinical logic for incorporation into VH tools
- Provide technical leadership to all logic innovation and refinement efforts across the division
- Work closely with cross functional teams to prioritize set of clinical advancements required within the toolset
- Provide direction to clinical informatics team to ensure delivery on prioritized set of enhancements across VH toolset
- Detailed understanding of clinical code-sets including, but not limited to, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and NDC
- Be the client face of clinical informatics
- Provide clinical credibility to our products and consulting with clients, prospects and the general public. Support sales team in communicating our current value and the roadmap of innovation with key prospects
- Lead custom clinical development for key enterprise level clients
- Work closely with senior level clients at our largest accounts to understand their needs and develop custom offerings within the constraints of our product offering
- Act as a key thought partner to help current clients understand how to extract maximum value from our software tools
- Oversee incorporation of standard clinical models within the VH toolset
- Be key point of contact for strategic clinical partners (e.g., 3M, Thomson)
- Provide direction as to which clinical models in the market will add significant value to VH customers
- Ensure proper implementation of third party models through closely working with Product and Development teams
- MD or a PhD in statistics or the sciences
- 8+ years experience in clinical informatics covering, but not limited to standard healthcaremetrics for inpatient and outpatient care
- 4+ years of management experience leading clinical / science teams
- Sound working knowledge of and previous experience with key standard clinical models (e.g., DxCG, MEGs, DRGs)
- Strong understanding of methods to group claims at event level (e.g., admissions)
- Considerable experience with quality of care measures, including HEDIS, 5 STAR, and other, custom measures
- Knowledge of specific challenges facing both Medicaid and Medicare populations, including how to account for those challenges within claims evaluation
- Strong foundation in ACO and network management
- Record of successfully publishing white papers and / or peer reviewed journal articles
- Detailed understanding of what is required to produce and use a normative medical database
- Working knowledge of Electronic Medical Records
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Good team leadership skills
- Self-starter able to scope, manage, oversee and deliver end products
- The ability to collaborate with and motivate cross-functional partners around key clinical initiatives and drive for results / flawless execution
- The ability to credibly interface with senior executives, including the ability to communicate with non-management stakeholders effectively
- A track record and innate desire to build outstanding, happy and productive teams by identifying and hiring A-players, investing in coaching and feedback, communicating transparently, and providing high energy leadership
