Job Description and responsibilities

 

Responsible for performing more complex analysis and is engaged in the development of modeling that maximizes profits and asset growth and minimizes credit and operating losses and other risk exposures. Provides analytical support on various product strategies to ensure company goals are met. Coordinates the production of performance reports for Senior Management. Reviews and analyzes trends in current population distributions and recommends strategies. May participate in or develop more complex program models to extract data and use databases to provide statistical and financial modeling. Analyzes portfolio trends, concerning credit score cutoffs, loss trends, portfolio dynamics, and bureau scoring criteria. Duties primarily include the regular use of discretion and independent judgment. Programming experience such as SQL, VBA and Micro-strategy.  Master's Degree or large data experience preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience.

 

This position will be responsible for developing automated, routine reporting and supporting ad-ho requests for information and analysis by Risk Portfolio Managers.  The successful candidate will have a proven background in reporting or analysis, strong written and verbal communication skills, SQL, database and reporting software skills and a thorough understanding of Financial Institutions, Commercial Lending, Traded Products and Risk Management.  The candidate must be able to respond to requests for information by asking pertinent, clarifying questions, identifying the relevant data needed to satisfy the request and presenting the information to the requestor in a clear and concise manner.  Candidate will have an understanding of internal information systems, relational database design and knowledge of how to use various BI tools to access multiple information sources for analytical purposes. 

 

Job requirements

 

•             Must have 5+ years of relevant experience in traded products: OTC derivatives and securities financing, commercial credit risk management or risk technology with an understanding of traded products, commercial lending products and risk management concepts.

•             Very solid SQL and experience using SQL Server, Netezza, Teradata or Sybase.    

•             Advanced Excel skills, including data import, pivot tables, lookups and data analysis.

•             Solid analytical skills - must be able to learn how to navigate systems, access data, reconcile numbers from different sources, identify discrepancies and understand drivers of change within data.

•             Experience with Technology Reporting and Data Warehouse applications and data flows.

•             Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

•             Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical business teams.

•             Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

•             Understanding of Risk Management Practices and Policies

•             In-Depth understanding and use of Business Intelligence applications and reporting tools.

 

Desired skills

 

•             Knowledge of ARCTIC, ECRIS and/or Credit Studio

•             Understanding of derivative potential exposure, capital measures, CVA, sensitivities and stress testing.

•             Understanding of Repo, Reverse Repo and Securities Lending transactions.

•             Understanding of central clearing concepts
