VP, Global Real Estate, EHS and Facilities
Description PURPOSE The Vice President, Facilities, EHS, Real Estate is responsible for the oversight of global strategic infrastructure planning, construction, renovation, maintenance, lease negotiations, facility services, security, and capital and expense budget performance. Additionally, the position is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of leading edge EHS programs in support of BSC?s business plan and provide consultative assistance to Business Unit Leaders in maintenance and advancing EHS compliance. Position is also responsible for providing oversight to BSC?s global security program. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES · Partner with senior management and provide expert advice and guidance on large scale infrastructure initiatives. · Responsible for strategic infrastructure planning in concert with BSC?s international, national, regional and local business requirements. · Responsible for developing and prescribing infrastructure and real estate capital investments through accepted industry based real estate and construction procurement methodologies. · Develops corporate facility/RE based capital plan and implements facility related capital projects. · Directs the installation, removal and repair of large scale facility related equipment within company locations inclusive of manufacturing support and logistics. · Develop short/long-range operating objectives, organizational structure and staffing requirements. · Contracts with and directs all outside contractor services through local sr. staff (facility directors). · Oversees and manages the performance of the direct reports, vendors and contractors comprised of corporate sr. staff and regional facility directors (dotted line/straight line depending on region). · Manage a staff while creating an environment that motivates people who can work in highly team-based, matrixed, participative, and results-oriented corporation. · Develops, controls and oversees regional facility expense plan and performance. · Responsible for developing and implementing world class facility and engineering based systems compliant with regulatory requirements established by FDA, EU and related bodies. · Ensures GMP/GLP compliance systems availability. Provides for company based tools and systems for ensuring same. · Coordinates and collaborates with Corporate Director, EHS in standards of compliance and auditing functions consistent with all federal, state and local regulatory authorities. · Stay informed of current and new EHS regulatory requirements and other guidelines considered for implementation. Communicate significant regulatory and technical information to appropriate personnel with the Corporation. · Responsible for all strategic based real estate transactions. · Responsible for the BSC based real estate management system and functionality · Provides oversight to the Global Director of Security. · Work closely with, support and develop facilities models, impacts, budgets and execution strategies to support plant operations, expansions, studies and or functional business unit requirements (sterilization, distribution, network analysis, etc.) This position will travel over 50% of the time internationally and domestically. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the Facility, Security, EHS, Real Estate and other relevant staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the corporations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. QUALIFICATIONS · Bachelor?s degree in Engineering or Engineering Sciences (MS or MBA preferred); ten or more years of experience in global project administration, purchasing, contracting and facilities management; real estate negotiation, eight plus year?s people management experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience is required. PE license, CPE certificate a significant plus. · Prior industry experience inclusive of large scale capital projects and facility management of controlled environments, security, GMP and regulated medical device manufacturing environments. Knowledge and application of environmental, health and safety regulations and familiarity with EHS regulatory agencies? protocols. Industrial hygiene skills are preferred. Experience in overseeing facility management, real estate and construction projects outside the United States essential. · Direct experience in managing large scale capital and expense budgets required.
