VP Trading & Derivatives
Overview:
BlackRock is seeking an attorney to be part of BlackRock's legal team covering transitions management, securities lending and structured finance issues for BlackRock funds and accounts in NY. The role will involve coverage of various trading structures and the relevant documentation, including transition management agreements, MSLAs, GMLSAs, structured finance documentation, and any ancillary agreements related to these transactions. The ideal candidate would have some knowledge of ERISA and '40 Act regulation, particularly as they pertain to transitions management and securities lending. Some familiarity with broker-dealer regulation would also be helpful. The role will require the candidate to follow applicable regulatory developments and to assist with the implementation of any new rules and regulations.
Candidates should be able to work effectively within a team environment, but also be self-directed and able to work autonomously. Once familiar with BlackRock documentation, policy and procedures, the candidate should expect to work with minimum levels of supervision/review of work produced.
Key Job Responsibilities:
This position is part of the BlackRock legal team responsible for coverage of BlackRock's securities lending, transitions management and structured finance teams, and will assist with tasks such as:
- Negotiation and execution of securities lending documentation
- Negotiation and execution of transitions management agreements
- Negotiation and execution of broker and introducing broker agreements with broker-dealers.
- Assisting with implementation of rules and reforms relating to lending and transitions management
- Special projects as required.
Skills/Requirements:
- 2-4 years experience as an attorney with a law firm or in-house at a financial services company
- Experience with securities lending and transitions agreements would be desirable
- Experience with structured products would be desirable
- Experience with '40 Act and ERISA rules relating to securities lending and transitions management would be
- Strong organizational, negotiating and inter-personal skills
- Strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills
- Ability to be able to multi-task, complete projects on time, and adjust to changing priorities
- Ability and desire and learn quickly, be flexible and collaborative
- Solutions-oriented, strategic thinker, ability to understand the business needs and partner with the business and control functions
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated, effective under pressure and willing to take undertake responsibility
