Washer Dynamics and Suspension System Engineer Job

This position will be responsible for improving the suspension and dynamics of residential washing machines. Essential Responsibilities -Create a technical vision for next generation suspension and balancing systems -Model the suspension and dynamics of home laundry machines -Benchmark products in the market to understand technical landscape -Set up experiments and required instrumentation to validate models through measurements -Scope technical projects to develop technologies towards achieving the vision -Work as part of the advanced technology team to execute on technical projects -Develop and evaluate multiple structural design concepts with the use of engineering analysis, rapid prototyping techniques and general hands-on skills -Test and evaluate designs through laboratory testing -Act as a technical expert to provide design and technical guidance to execution teams. -Work with New Product Teams to implement new designs in production -Understand the patent landscape and document novel concepts to enhance GE s IP portfolio -Occasional International and/or Domestic travel required Qualifications/Requirements: -BS degree in Mechanical Engineering -Minimum 10 years design experience in consumer products, automotive, or other related industry -Experience designing, testing and evaluating high velocity rotational equipment -Experience using predictive analysis software such as DADS, Fluent or ADAMS to analyze and optimize system dynamic responses -Experience designing parts with SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer, or other solid modeling software. -Fluent use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word software packages -Self-starting leader with excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills -Ability to quickly frame up a problem by developing a test set up with instrumentation, developing and running experiments, and providing recommendations -Ability to design, build, and execute a test plan and clearly present data to a diverse group and openly debate technical issues -Move to Louisville, Kentucky or surrounding area full time Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening.
