Web App Developers/Ruby Aficionados Job in Chattanooga 37406, Tennessee US

Small, fast-moving web development lab seeking experienced or curious Ruby developers to join our team of highly-skilled developers.

 

If you don't like change, don't apply. If you feel comfortable in a cubicle, do not apply. If your idea of a good time is spending 50% or more of your development cycle writing tests to make sure that when a user clicks a button it *really* clicks, please move along. We do not "act as enterprisey" here.

 

If, however, you yearn for fresh challenges, read on. We use Ruby like it was our second language, slinging it in ways no one else has before. Algorithms? Sure. Lambdas and Procs? Of course. Web development using common frameworks like Sinatra and Rails? You bet.

 

But we don't make your grandma's web site. We make Web Apps. Mobile, desktop, or cloud, we rule them all. Our fearless leader was one of the pioneers of Personal Computer technology with over 25 years of experience, and the rest of us techies range from expert back-end engineers to nimble front-end hackers.

 

We're agile without the strict adherence to Agile. We constantly collaborate, and iterate often. We believe in a 'right tool for the job' approach, meaning if you find a way to do something better, then do it that way. We'll have your back.

 

Interested? You MUST know HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (we prefer jQuery generally). This is Web Dev folks, you don't know these you don't know Web.

 

You should be experienced or familiar with Ruby, preferably 2+ years of experience, if you want to be considered for a 'senior' position. If you're a Ruby Noobie, we'll consider you too, as long as you're smart and bring something interesting to the table. Working at Ye Olde Ice Cream Shoppe as a shift manager for the last three months doesn't count. (That really was on an actual resume.)

 

A couple of Bonus Points if you're cool with Sinatra or Rails (2.3 or 3.x). Same if you're familiar with any programming languages besides Ruby.

 

Big Bonus Points if you've got Mobile App skills (iOS or Android) in addition to standard Web Dev.

 

Super Bonus Points if you've got any of the above plus experience with any of the following: Language Translation, Voice Recognition, Video Encoding, or large-scale distributed application development.
