Volt Technical Resources has a long-term position available in New York City for an experienced Web Designer.
Position Overview:
Our Client is seeking to hire a Designer for their in-house Product Development group in order to execute the Company's online creative projects. Taking direction from the Creative Director, Design Manager and Art Directors, the Designer carries out the established design for a project as well as supporting and contributing to the original and iterative process. This role requires a person who is constructive, charismatic, collaborative, and committed to an innovative vision.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Web Designer:
- Participates constructively within a team in order to design, layout and execute solutions for Product Development projects.
- Uses various Graphics and Design software to create cutting-edge interfaces, modular design, new functionality, user flows and style documentation.
- Understands and participates in extending the visual language of the brand, user experience and site characteristics into concepts, designs, layouts and interfaces.
- Executes Design and Layout solutions with a high level of proficiency, logic, informed problem-solving, and artistry – including visual design and concepts, typography, interface compositions and features.
This is an estimated one-year PLUS contingent / temporary position, through Volt Technical Resources, based in New York City. We are among the largest staffing companies in the US for contingent/temporary and direct hire placements, and support most of the top-rated companies on the East Coast.
Requirements:
Required Skills for this Web Designer position include the following:
- 2+ years of Web and Interactive Design experience
- An understanding of current tools/technology, user behavior, upcoming trends and design principles, as well as how they apply to design in an interactive space
- Bachelor's degree, or higher, in Fine Arts or Graphic Design with strong typographical and Interaction Design skills
- Demonstrated strong design aesthetic, as well as interface, typographic and layout expertise
- Demonstrated ability to create Pixel-Precise Vector Graphics and illustrations
- Ability to be a "left-brained" Designer when it comes to precision and documentation
- Advanced knowledge of the creative and production process for a major online brand
- Comfortable working in a team environment with Producers, Writers, Information Architects and Developers
- Advanced level of the following software required:
- Mac OSX
- Photoshop
- Illustrator
- HTML and CSS (strong working knowledge)
- Adobe Acrobat/Distiller
- InDesign
- Strong verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously, as well as designing in an extremely fast-paced environment with a high level of turn-around.
- An ability to meet deadlines
- Some background in Photographic Compositing, Photo Manipulation and Retouching, Vector Graphics and Icons a definite plus
- Some experience in User Experience Flows and Design Documentation also a plus

- Ability to design for the "anything is possible: scenarios that cutting-edge development technologies provide (i.e. HTML 5, Ajax, CSS).
