Web Developer Instructor

What we do:

We turn complete beginners into junior software developers.

How we do it:

We run an intensive, full-time, 12 week course in software development in our studio near the Old St roundabout in London. After the graduation we help our students get jobs in companies like Pivotal Labs, Sky, Thoughtworks, 8th Light, Mint Digital, New Bamboo and many others.

Why we do it:

The world badly needs software developers but it’s really hard to learn how to write good code even if you have a Computer Science degree. We believe that there’s an easier and much faster way to learn to build awesome things with software.

The role:

Full-time, permanent. We’re looking for an experienced software developer who will teach our students how to build great software. You will be pairing with them, giving classes, organising workshops and in general being a role model for the next generation of developers. Occasionally you may be expected to work on internal software projects (we’re building internal learning software).

Main requirements

Expected experience:

We expect you to be really good with JavaScript and related front-end technologies. A knowledge of Ruby is required but we may make an exception for exceptional candidates. We’ll expect you to love pair programming, as we rely on it heavily. We teach our students to write good, clean code using best practices, so we’re looking for candidates who are proud of the quality of their code and don’t settle for ugly hacks.

Nice to have

Ruby, JavaScript, TDD/BDD, Hardware (Arduino and others), Software Crafstmanship

Perks

Transparent culture (all data, including financial, equity, board packs, etc) is open. We don’t hide problems, we talk about them. We don’t track holidays. We work hard but have flexible hours. We look after each other.
