Web Hosting Linux Sys Admin
Alexander Black Recruitment is urgently looking for a Linux Web Systems Administrator to join our high profile client.
Our client is a well known global financial and bleeding edge technology consultancy.
I am looking for a Linux Sys Admin who has proven experience of real-world Linux server administration in a web hosting environment, including in-depth knowledge of relevant technologies (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP, DNS, Mail, cPanel, etc).
The Linux Sys Admin will be responsible for:
- The provision and management of business-critical Linux computing systems including storage, compute and network components across multiple sites
- In-house infrastructure development and operation in Linux
- Continuous security review and infrastructure hardening
- Build and release infrastructure automation
- Virtualisation and VM management
- Network administration
- Planning and engineering multi-site fail-over solutions
This is a customer facing role where you will be resolving requests and issues, providing ongoing routine server maintenance and management tasks behind the scenes, and you will be involved in designing and provisioning new hosting solutions for new customers.
Candidates MUST have:
- Strong understanding of Centos/Redhat distribution of Linux.
- Experience of Cpanel or Plesk
- Experience in managing web hosting applications (E.g. Apache, PHP, MySQL, DNS, Mail, Networking, Hardware, etc.)
- Ability to write scripts (Bash, Perl etc.) to aid efficient server management.
- Strong technique in server optimisation and software performance tuning (E.g. Apache, PHP and MySQL optimisation on busy web hosting servers).
- Good working knowledge of more complex hosting, server clustering and virtualisation technologies.
- Excellent communication, initiative and time management skills.
- Previous web hosting industry experience is essential.
