Wind RD Program Manager
System One is currently seeking a Wind Power OEM RD Program Manager. This position will primarily deal with management and deployment of RD activities for Wind Turbine Power Generators. The position will be based in Central Virginia and report to the Manager of Engineering with direct reports in Virginia, Texas and Spain. This is a full time direct opportunity with extensive benefits and relocation to Richmond, VA.
Job Description:
Under the supervision and guidance of the Innovation Director the candidate will manage and deploy research programs with leading research institutions in North America. He or she will provide management support to the Innovation Director and will participate with the global Innovation organization in key projects and activities.
The candidate must be able to work with a multifunctional team, take direction, and work with minimal oversight and direction. Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manage and coordinate RD programs being responsible of deliverables, reporting, quality, communications, invoicing and costs associated to the different projects.
- Participate in the definition, development and organization of RD Grant project applications with different partnership including national and international organizations.
- Manage the operations, upgrades and new installations of Test Units in North America in coordination with Global Innovation.
- Support the EHS officer in the deployment of Safety rules and policies in the Test Unit sites.
- Support the Finance group to define department forecasts and budgets in coordination with Global Innovation Organization.
- Support Legal and Intellectual Property functions to deploy an IP strategy.
- Support from a technical and management prospective the OEM Wind Organization.
- Support product design activities or projects and serve as a link with Global Innovation organizations.
- Represent the group in the RD community and in strategic working groups or committees.
- Participate in the resolution of different technical issues in his or her field of expertise
Qualifications
- MS degree in Engineering required. PM certification desired.
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience in RD, Design and Test Validation.
- Strong Knowledge in PM, IP, electrical and mechanical design.
- Experience in dealing with National Labs, Universities, Engineering firms and Consultants
- Experience in budget management and finance.
- Organized and have excellent technical writing skills.
- Proactive and pragmatic approach to problem solving and business processes analysis.
- Ability to communicate effectively while working in an evolving international environment.
- Willingness to travel within the US and eventually overseas - South of Europe.
- Fluency in second language (Spanish or French) desirable.
