The Company

Our client is a leading global reinsurance organisation that has an outstanding reputation within the industry.

The Role

* Development of windstorm catastrophe models for reinsurance purposes
* Complete involvement in developing catastrophe models for Reinsurance purposes
* To participate actively in the development of the probabilistic windstorm hazard models (This encompasses processing, analysing and preparing source and hazard data, i.e. candidate needs to be technical )
* To manage entire model development projects, i.e. candidate needs to have managerial
* skills
* To work with damage data or vulnerability methodology to allocate to an asset the
* likelihood of being affected by a storm
* To coordinate cooperation with external partners, this may need travelling abroad
* To communicate and present intermediate and final results to other departments such as cat management team, etc., candidate needs to have excellent communication skills.
* To deliver external presentation to clients, at conferences, etc.
* To bring innovation while understanding the requirements/limitations of the practices of the team
* To be part of the development team and be able to coordinate tasks with other members
* To collaborate with other team members from different offices worldwide
* To use in-house software packages

The Candidate

* Appropriate educational background: an MSc/Postgraduate Degree or equivalent industry
* Knowledgeable in the field of engineering
* Good knowledge of scripting languages e.g. Python, Matlab, R, Fortran
* Knowledge of databases e.g. MS SQL Server
* Proficiency in MS Excel and other MS Office apps and excellent general computing skills
* Excellent written and spoken English. Other European languages also welcomed
* An understanding of the insurance business will be an advantage
* Extremely innovative, enthusiastic and hard working
* High level of inventiveness, strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
* Ability to carry out work independently with minimum supervision and common sense
* Above average communication and presentation skills
* Willingness to continue professional development in the field
* Availability to work extra-hours if needed
* Able to pick up things quickly in regards to the working subject
* Able to deal with people from different countries and different backgrounds
* Be able to explain complicated processes in a simple manner
* Good planning skills required in order to finish tasks on time
* Ability to work in a team
