Introduction:

 

The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking an Aegis BMD System Concept Analyst and Developer.

Job Summary:

 

System Engineering Analyst and Simulation Developer for Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD).

Duties:

 

Assess current and future ballistic missile defense weapon systems capabilities using medium-fidelity engagement models and simulations to define concepts, develop requirements, and predict overall system performance. Participate in systems engineering working groups chartered to conduct analyses, define requirements, and recommend selected concepts and solutions.

Develop medium-fidelity engagement models and simulations. Based on requirements for additional capabilities, define and implement appropriate algorithms into existing simulations. Enhance the fidelity of current representations where necessary to resolve key analytical needs. Perform testing, verification and validation of new capabilities.

Deliver formal presentations to sponsors and design agents to communicate proposed concepts, solutions and analyses results. Produce documentation to capture all relevant systems engineering tasks including technical recommendations.

Required Qualifications:

 

BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, System Engineering, or related field. Strong interest in systems engineering and analysis. Software development skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Desired Qualifications:

 

MS in Electrical, Mechanical, System Engineering or related field. Dual major with Computer Science. Experience with ballistic missile defense systems, particularly Aegis BMD and SM-3. C++ software development, MATLAB experience, software configuration management, and linux grid computing experience.

Special Working Conditions:


Occasional travel to Dahlgren Va., and contractor sites in Moorestown NJ and Tucson AZ.
