Audit Executive/Assistant Manager – Government & Public Sector

QUALIFIED AUDIT EXECUTIVES ASSISTANT AUDIT MANAGERS (ACA, ACCA, ICAEW, CIPFA) TO WORK IN GPS GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC SECTOR AUDIT TEAM OF A BIG 4 FIRM ON THE SOUTH COAST COVERING THE SUSSEX AREA

Our client is a Top 4 Firm on the South Coast. Its Government Public Sector team (GPS) is a specialist team, dealing specifically with clients in Government and the Public Sector and its primary clients are in Local Government and the NHS including County Councils, District Councils, Police, Fire, Hospital Trusts and Primary Care / Clinical Commissioning groups - all of which are involved in providing frontline services to the public.

GPS is a new growth area for the firm so you'll have the opportunity to play a part in growing the business, ensuring you gain excellent learning and development experiences. It's a great role as you will still get exposure to learn and understand the corporate audits as well as develop specialist skills.

As an Audit Executive auditor in UKI Assurance GPS, your main aim will be to provide an independent view on clients’ compliance with accounting principles, playing an important role in helping businesses reflect their financial picture accurately, which in turn protects financial markets.

Your client responsibilities will be to demonstrate the ability to effectively manage the Audit process with appropriate consideration of audit risk issues and accounting technical matters; to demonstrate the ability to lead and manage fieldwork on clients sites including liaising with other departments to ensure the smooth delivery of the Audit process; to demonstrate an application and solution-based approach to problem solving, referred to for research on delivery of solutions in that field on client assignments; to demonstrate expertise in primary accounting frameworks,and in related financial reporting matters; to demonstrate expertise in using GAM to perform an assurance engagement in compliance with auditing standards; and to identify areas requiring improvement in the clients business processes and possible recommendations and prepare and deliver Management Letter to be provided to the client

The ideal candidate will have gained external audit experience within the government and public sector either within the profession or having worked with NAO or the Audit Commission. They will be fully qualified
ACA/ CA/ ACCA/ CIPFA (or equivalent international qualification) and will ideally have gained first time passes in their professional exams (this is not a pre-requisite).
