Capital Modelling Actuary/ Senior Analyst – London Based recruitment

My Client, a well established consolidator of business portfolios in run-off within the non-life insurance and reinsurance sector are actively seeking a highly motivated, highly skilled Capital Modelling / Senior Analyst to take responsibility for the Group Capital Modelling team.

The team’s purpose is to build up and maintain economic capital modelling facilities across the Group with the following key deliveries:

• Develop and update the internal economic capital model for regulatory purposes (SST, Solvency II) and to support capital reductions in the run-off process.

• Roll out the internal capital model to the Group and integrate it into the risk and capital management process.

• Participate in the due diligence phase of new acquisitions by assessing the solvency capital requirements with a simplified economic capital model. 

Key responsibilities include:

• Own and update Group internal capital model quarterly to support the capital reduction process and ensure compliance with Swiss Solvency Test (SST) regulation

• Own and update Groups London internal capital model quarterly to support the capital reduction process and ensure its compliance with ICA standards and Solvency II

• Work together with reserving and risk management to integrate the internal capital model into the company’s risk management and decision making processes

• Prepare documentation required for the regulators (FINMA; FSA) and act as a point of contact together with the Chief Actuary.

• Develop a simplified economic capital model to assess the capital requirements of new company acquisitions in the due diligence process.

• Work towards rolling out the internal capital model facility across the Group.

• Stay up to date on developments in the area of Solvency II and state of the art capital modelling.

• Other ad-hoc actuarial projects relating to risk measurement, assessment and reporting.

• Produce and defend results from the capital model for regular model runs.

• Perform actuarial / quantitative analysis of the model outputs for a variety of uses and problems.

• Own and maintain the documentation relating to the build and maintenance of the model. 

Candidate:

• Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics or Actuarial Science preferred

• A member of the Institute of Actuaries or another internationally recognized actuarial association

• Proven proficiency in actuarial concepts/methodologies

• Extensive knowledge and understanding of general insurance and reinsurance including underwriting policies, claims handling policies and local legislation

• Minimum of 6 years of Actuarial experience in an insurance / reinsurance company or consultancy (working on, including pricing, portfolio analysis)

• Minimum of 6 years of experience of designing, building and running capital models

• Extensive experience of using DFA modeling platforms/tools, in particular Remetrica and a working knowledge of a programming language

• Expert user of the full MS Office suite

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and able to explain complex concepts in a straightforward manner to non-technical Managers and Executives

• Fluent in English and German preferred 

The role will be based in London, but other locations will be considered for the right candidate.

An element of business travel will also be required.
