Cargo Claims executive

Full Job Description

Summary:
Provide an efficient cost effective claims handling service for a high volume of claims, mainly cargo related. The role will involve dealing with a diverse European membership including large liner operators.

Key Responsibilities:

- To competently manage day to day PI claims without significant levels of supervision and communicate effectively with all interested parties.
- Investigate, analyse, assess, negotiate and settle claims within operational guidelines.
- Develop productive relations with Members to encourage the perception of approachability and a positive, sympathetic attitude.
- Deliver specific and general advice appropriate to Members` business needs, with a view to adding value to Members` own business plans and objectives.
- Develop team relationships both internally and externally and provide support for colleagues particularly during their absence.
- Participate in the out of hours duty rota.
- Network within the company environment to share relevant information and contribute towards optimum case results.
- Develop and manage relationships with suppliers to ensure effective management of claims.

Essential
Marine legal or insurance related degree or equivalent
Knowledge of contracts of carriage and bills of lading necessary
Practical container operations experience required
Knowledge of the shipping market.
Strong prioritization and a willingness to learn and adapt
Excellent team player
Strong networking and relationship management skills.

Desirable
Experience of PI claims
Knowledge of German or other European languages
