Chair of the Department of Architecture and Design

The College seeks an innovative, resourceful and experienced academic leader to guide the establishment of a new five-year Bachelor of Architecture program. An ideal candidate should demonstrate a distinguished record of strong academic leadership and nationally recognized work in practice, research and/or teaching. This is a tenure-track administrative, teaching and applied research position. Primary administrative responsibilities will include curriculum and course development, course scheduling, student recruitment, retention and advisement, committee involvement and overseeing the departmental budget. In addition, the Chair will provide support for faculty and student development and maintain communications within the college and professional communities on both a local and a national level through ongoing professional scholarship. The position also requires the ability to teach in both the design studio and other areas of the architecture curricula, including architectural history and theory, where excellent interpersonal communication skills are essential. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. or Doctor of Architecture (D.Arch.) and a minimum of five years of demonstrated studio-based teaching experience in a NAAB Accredited, professional degree program.
