PNG 2015 Pacific Games Ltd. is seeking to recruit a person with strong motivational and strategical leadership skills that will drive this company to ensuring a successful 2015 Pacific Games.
This position is based in Port Moresby and reports to the Board. The successful candidate will provide effective leadership and management for all operational functions. This person will assist the Board by ensuring that the Host City Contract deliverables are effectively communicated and implemented.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide effective and strategic leadership and management for all operational functions
- Establish strong working relationship with the immediate stakeholders and partner advocates in the Games – the PNG Pacific Games Association; PNG Government and its agencies; NationalCapital District City Council and its agencies; and with other organisations with interests in the Games – such as the Sporting Bodies, the Business Community etc.
- Establish a strong relationship with the Pacific Games Council, PNGPGA and the International Sports Federations to ensure that the Games are delivered in accordance with the commitments made in the host city contract and reflect current best practice as to the organisation of the Games.
- Provide overall strategic leadership to the Company and set its direction, policies and delivery plans. Create an effective, high performing organisation focused on delivering the total Pacific Games programme.
- Overall responsibility for the financial performance of the Company including preparation of Annual Business Plans and Annual Budgets. Ensure a high standard of financial administration, propriety and regularity.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A Tertiary qualification is required, and a Masters Degree in Business Administration is preferable.
- High level of business acumen with proven past experience working with high profile boards and organisations.
- A clear strategic thinker, able to manage a complex range of functions and competing priorities, and steer a clear forward course for the Company
- Sound judgement, with a proven track record of making the right decisions in light of competing pressures, tight timeframes and constrained resources.
- Proven track record of managing high profile events and/or extensive knowledge ofdelivering the complexities of a multi-sport event would be highly desirable.
- Knowledge and understanding of the scrutiny and visibility of international sporting events and ability to manage high profile and political issues sensitively at both local and national level
- Familiarity with government processes.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicatemessages convincingly and with great clarity to a wide variety of audiences
- Extensive experience of working with partnerships involving a variety of agencies.
- Affinity for sports and Pacific Culture
