Hays Healthcare are currently working with a leading NHS Hospital in the East Midlands region of the UK who are looking to recruit a Clinical Fellow in General Medicine/AE.
The Trust is looking to develop a team of 8 clinical fellows to supplement their existing team of SpRs.
You will possess or be in the process of acquiring membership of either the Royal College of Physicians or the College of Emergency Medicine, but wishing to strengthen your CV before applying for a training number. You may be unsure of your chosen career path and would appreciate a taste of multiple specialities at middle grade level, or you may require out of program experience in General Medicine to acquire dual accreditation.
For the right people- the Trust offers a 12 month job which will be tailored to your specific needs.
Successful candidates will spend 40% of their time in generic acute medicine or AE, 40% in speciality work , and 20% in training.
Speciality work can be in any of the medical specialties such as cardiology or in Emergency Medicine or anaesthetics .
Training could involve learning a procedure such as endoscopy attending specialised clinics, doing research, audit or a management project for future NHS leaders.
The Hospital's AE sees 100,000 attendances per year, and 16,000 medical admissions through their Emergency assessment units per year. They have a recently enlarged AE, modern cardiac labs, and an onsite renal unit. This is a great opportunity for prospective consultants in a general medical speciality or in AE to broaden their training and experience.
Applicants must have (or be eligible for) full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and must be eligible to work in the UK. A good command of English is essential in order to communicate fluently with colleagues and patients alike.
