Commercial Insurance Field Underwriting Director, Sacramento
Key Responsibilities
Manage the Middle Market underwriting team for assigned territory.
Coordinate an overall team approach in the achievement of profit goals. Provide leadership, direction and management in the risk selection process.
Manage the internal underwriting review process, including correction of deficiencies.
Direct the training and development of the underwriting staff.
Implement and develop strategies and tactical plan to achieve sales and profit objectives.
Develop new or revised underwriting programs in accordance with plan objectives.
Key Requirements/Skills/Experience
Knowledge of Commercial Insurance products, coverages and underwriting practices
Strong communications, presentation, sales negotiation skills
Analytical skills to grasp complex issues present to others
Knowledge of Commercial Insurance systems manuals
Ability to evaluate financial reports recognize positive/negative indicators
Excellent human relations skills to develop maintain agency and insured relationships
Excellent managerial skills
Underwriting, marketing, production management skills to solve complex business problems
Thorough understanding of ratemaking procedures, rules, regulations, company filings their application to nationwide risks and/or loss sensitive program
Ability to negotiate complex products commissions with agencies national brokers
Substantial experience in underwriting and managing highly unique, large complex risks
Thorough knowledge of commercial exposures, hazards coverages.
Excellent sales, negotiations and presentation skills
