Counterparty Credit Analyst
Role Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing credit risk for a portfolio of wholesale counterparty bank and broker dealer credit clients and monitoring associated credit exposures to ensure that credit quality adheres to guidelines.
- Research and analyse pertinent financial statements to evaluate a counterparty’s stability, aptitude of management, and creditworthiness
- Prepares and presents risk based written credit memoranda for credit approval
- Monitor counterparties and portfolio for changes in risk and update management on key issues that impact credit quality
- Complete risk reviews for all counterparties annually, or more frequently where creditworthiness is deteriorating
- Interface with trading, treasury, and securities lending staff regarding market conditions, trading strategies and appropriateness of credit limits, balancing trading priorities and risk management
Skills Experience
- Solid experience (5 years ) of credit analysis ideally focussed on financial institutions
- Knowledge of finance and accounting
- Comfortable with legal and regulatory issues
- Broad financial experience gained from within a bank, asset manager or ratings agency
- Strong academic background
- Numerically competent with strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Understanding of performance calculations would be a distinct advantage
