Credit Analyst for Asian corporates, buy side
Our client specialises in global corporate credit investments and is in the process of building up its capabilities in emerging market corporate credits. An analyst to focus on Asian credits will serve to complete its global EM research coverage capability.
The Role:
The role will encompass the following key aspects:
- The provision of insightful credit analysis, incorporating the production of financial models, with regard mainly to coverage of Asian high yield credits, but also incorporating coverage of Asian investment grade credits.
- The ability to “drill down” to undertake the depth of analytical assessment necessary for the provision of fully effective analysis of the Asian high yield credit markets.
- To be involved in contributing to investment decisions in funds and marketing material.
- To participate in internal meetings to express opinions on the Asia credit markets in particular, and on occasions on the EM global credit markets as a whole, to other colleagues specialising in the developed markets.
- To undertake regular travel across the Asian region to meet with corporates and, as and when necessary, to accompany marketing colleagues.
The Candidate:
EITHER:
If currently focusing on a geographical territory aside from Asia:
- the candidate will be a credit analyst, either currently working with another buy-side investment firm or in the fixed income department of a sell-side investment bank. In either instance, candidates must have a strong understanding of sub investment grade debt.
OR:
If currently focusing on the Asian markets:
- the candidate will either possess existing experience as an Asian corporate credit analyst or may alternatively be an analyst with demonstrable financial modelling and risk assessment experience gained from an Asian leveraged finance or Asian equities perspective.
CANDIDATES FROM EITHER OF THE ABOVE BACKGROUNDS MUST BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING:
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in his/her current area of analytical focus, together with a highly inquisitive mind.
AND
- A proven affinity for dealing effectively with Asian businesspeople, for which fluency in one or more of the east and/or southeast Asian languages will be desirable.
