Desktop Support
Responsibilities include although are not limited to the following:
- Provide tech support for Linux, Windows and MAC users and related hardware/software and resolve issues in a timely manner
- Monitor Linux, Windows and MAC desktops for any hardware and/or software failures and work to resolve those failures
- Manage desktops within a VDI environment
- Help maintain hardware/software inventories
- Maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair computer systems, hardware and computer peripherals, including mobile devices (Blackberry, iPhone, iPad, Android, etc.)
- Document, maintain, upgrade, and replace hardware and software systems for desktop and peripheral equipment
- Install, configure, and support phones
- Support and maintain user account information including rights, security and systems groups
Technical Skills:
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software
- Experience with Red Hat/Fedora Linux, Windows, MAC
- Windows XP Professional and Windows 7
- Linux command line experience
- Knowledge of Shell scripting
- Experience with Citrix / VMware
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software
- Basic knowledge and understanding of Bloomberg trading system
- Proven ability to support virtual desktops and applications is a plus (Citrix)
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
- A basic understanding of Windows TCP/IP networking
- Macintosh hardware and software (Snow Leopard) Lion OS is a plus
- Active Directory User/Computer Account Administration is a plus
- Mobile Device support knowledge (Blackberry, iPhone, iPad, Android, etc.)
- Previous Helpdesk experience
Qualifications:
- 4 – 5 years minimum experience with PC hardware and software desktop support
- Able to quickly learn and support new technologies and take on new responsibilities as priorities change
- Able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate problem solving skills.
- Highly motivated, detail orientated individual.
- Able to work both with a team and individually
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Prior experience at a hedge fund is a plus
