Director, Client Advisory Services (CAS)

Institutional Banking Markets (IBM) is responsible for the provision of products and services to approximately 3000 major corporate, institutional and government clients. This is achieved through origination, structuring and execution of on and off balance sheet products that are enhanced through the efficient application of taxation, accounting, risk and capital management technologies. IBM is the primary face to the market for all complex financing and advisory functions for the Bank's corporate and government clients.
Role Purpose:
The Director role will work with senior executives across Coverage/Relationship Banker, Product and Risk in a team environment to increase strategic dialogue, advice and pitching to IBM's target clients and to support the on- going funding requirements of these clients.
The Client Advisory Services (CAS) team plays a key role in driving strategic engagement and advice-led business origination with key clients. The team works to develop strategic funding and capital market ideas and solutions for clients on a proactive basis, with a focus on:
- Equity capital markets and debt capital markets origination and execution.
- Acquisition funding and associated equity and term debt strategies.
- Refinancing advice, requiring solutions across multiple products.
- Provision of capital management and balance sheet optimisation advice.
- Provision of high level ratings and comparable peer analysis.
- Provision of strategic, peer and industry insights
- Driving increased CBA engagement with clients Senior Management (CEOs / CFOs) and Boards.
Key Accountabilities:
- Work in partnership with Coverage/Relationship Banker, Product and Risk to execute and continue to enhance the strategy for the different industry verticals, which involves:
- Proactively assisting the Relationship Bankers in the identification and origination new business opportunities and new clients to CBA and has active involvement in client marketing initiatives.
- Providing input into client strategy, planning processes and transaction structuring as required.
- Work with Coverage/Relationship Bankers and Product to increase strategic and proactive dialogue, advice and pitching.
- Leading team to support Coverage/Relationship Banker in more complex client pitches and presentations through:
- Structuring and developing presentation materials in conjunction with Coverage, Product, Risk and Finance.
- Coordinate input and review by Coverage, Product and Risk.
- Provide strategic thought leadership and analytic support required for the presentation/pitch.
- Ensuring appropriate quality checks/peer review.
- Presenting materials at client presentations and pitches.
- Leading team to work with Relationship Banker and Product to present the ideas and solution to the client and execution support as required to the awarding of the mandate.
- Develop and maintain outstanding internal relationships with Coverage/Relationship teams, Product, and Risk.
- Lead a team of Senior Associates and Associates:
- Provide clear business direction.
- Develop and motivate the team.
- Provide training and mentoring for the team.
- Delivery of KPIs and targets as agreed with management
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Essential:
- Degree in commerce, business or related field.
- Sound understanding of the strategic and financial operations of a Corporate client and their funding requirement.
- Strong understanding of corporate finance, DCF, valuation and MA.
- Highly developed research, analytical and financial modeling skills.
- Proven experience in deal originations, preparing client pitches, presentations and relationship management with C-suite clients.
- Strong communication and presentation skills (oral and written).
- Significant Investment Banking and MA experience coupled with exposure to industry sectors.
- A high level of commercial acumen.
- Ability to cope in a high-pressure environment.
- Professional presentation.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Understanding of the equity, debt and capital markets
