SP Dow Jones Indices, a leading brand of the McGraw-Hill Companies (NYSE:MHP), maintains a wide variety of investable and benchmark indices to meet an array of investor needs. Over $1.25 trillion is directly indexed to Standard Poor's family of indices, which includes the SP 500, the world's most followed stock market index, the SP/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices, the leading measure of U.S. home prices, the SP Global BMI, an index with approximately 11,000 constituents, the SP GSCI, the industry's most closely watched commodities index, and the SP National AMT-Free Municipal Bond Index, the premier investable index for U.S. municipal bonds.
We are currently recruiting for a Director to be responsible for EMEA focused Indices Strategy. This integral position is to enhance the visibility and credibility of the SP Dow Jones Indices brand within the EMEA region by drawing on SP Indices research and data to generate stories of interest to the media and conference sponsors and by serving as chief communicator, spokesperson and public face for SP in the EMEA region.
You will:
- Draw on SP Index data and research (across all asset classes, including our economic indicators) to generate stories, articles, presentations and speeches of interest to the media and to third party conference organizers, and to support internally sponsored marketing and conference programs
- Support the product-specific PMs and Client Coverage by reviewing initial drafts of pitch books and other materials prepared by the product-specific PMs, and by providing editorial advice in order to ensure that we articulate the case for each product in clear, succinct, customer-centered terms
- Working in consultation with the product-specific PMs, Client Coverage, Research, and Channel Management, assume primary responsibility for directly developing pitch books and other materials that explore broader investment themes and stories (e.g., yield, low volatility, alternative weightings) that cut across individual asset classes, and that highlight the breadth of our offerings, tailoring these materials to different audiences (advisors, institutional investors, asset managers, etc.)
- Act as chief liaison between Product Management and Client Coverage for EMEA, ensuring that Client Coverage has the necessary support from Product Management, and serving as a product generalist, as required, to support Client Coverage in meetings, where the product specific PMs are not available
- Contribute to overall business strategy development, and to tactical decision making, by acting as the "eyes and ears" of Product Management in EMEA, advising the Global Head, Index Strategy, MD Product Management and the product specific PMs on emerging trends, opportunities and threats
- Create and maintain on-going relationships with representatives in the media and with conference organizers to support placement of SP Indices related stories
Required:
- Post-graduate degree in business, finance or economics
- Significant previous experience in the investment and/or financial business; ideally in a directly related field
- Very strong written and oral communication skills acquired in a financial/investment research or media setting
- Strong inter-personal skills to support placement of stories with the media
- Strong understanding of the motivations, time constraints and content needs of journalists, acquired through work experience in a media or public relations setting
