electrical engineer controls
Special knowledge required in field of Electric Arc Furnace and Ladle Furnace process control systems. 5-13 years relevant experience in EAF and LF automation system, industrial power systems, power quality, power monitoring and SCADA system. Experience with Siemens software and controls is preferred and specifically with SIEMENS Arc Furnace closed loop control systems is preferred (extensive experience with regulation systems). POSITION FOCUS: Engineering and Start-up and Commissioning as well as Optimization of Arc Furnace Electrode Controls and Arc Furnace Control Equipment and Technology. Especially the commissioning of special unique closed loop control products from Siemens which apply in foamy slag management and condition based scrap melting in electric arc furnace operation. Further on static var compensation technology, Power monitoring systems and SCADA systems in coordination with Power Systems teams in SAG (Germany) and Alpharetta. Industrial power distribution systems at Medium Voltage levels, including primary/secondary substations, power system compensation, power quality, compensation, substation automation, and SCADA for power distribution RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform conceptual and detailed custom tailor-made design, and perform commissioning of new special products in electric arc furnace technology. Analyze frequency records (vibration analysis) for FSM and CSM technology, adapting and optimizing the closed loop control and regulation programs according to customer process and mechanical furnace characteristics to perfection. Maintaining, optimizing and adaption of structure borne sound sensor positions (mechanical position) of FSM and CSM at customer furnace, to meet full mechanical and electrical performance criteria of said structure borne sound sensors. Perform the analysis on vibration records (structure borne sound evaluation) to determine the neutral flow point and general material flow conditions inside of an Electric Arc Furnace. Developing tailor-made asymmetrical power control, through adaption of radiant power model with consideration of electric arc radiation effects, determined by structure borne sound evaluation. Further on developing proposals and cost estimates. Prepare and deliver technical presentations and training to customers. Evaluate, select and test automation and power systems, power quality and SCADA equipment. Select and configure comprehensive power system solutions and protective and communication schemes. SCADA Engineering, including selecting and configuring digital protection relays, and communication protocols (hardwired, MODBUS, Profibus, Ethernet, 61850). Perform site investigation, consultation and site supervision services to customers. The employee will work directly with Sr. Development engineers, located at the Siemens Global research facility, on research and development of new technologies for the Metals industry. This work would include guidance on new product development and analysis of technology trends for the industry.
