Job Description

Given the extraordinary level and pace of legal, regulatory and governance reform in the financial services sector in the EU and EMEA regions, State Street is looking to add a full-time dedicated regulatory lawyer to support its investor services, asset management and global markets business units and corporate functions across the EMEA region.

The EMEA Regulatory Counsel would help frame, influence, and facilitate the implementation of, the requirements of regulatory reforms on the State Street businesses and interface with primary regulators in the markets in which we operate, on regulatory reform, prudential and supervisory matters, governance, and expansion activities. 

This lawyer could be based either in the UK or in Continental Europe, reporting to the Head of Legal EMEA in London and the Senior Regulatory Counsel in Boston, and the role would include:

- Advising on local and EU regulatory reform and assisting in the development and roll out of implementation measures to reflect the changes in law, regulation or best practices;

- Providing initial regulatory analysis and subsequent assistance with filings and submissions and authorization requests for expansion or restructuring activities, and liaising with regulatory bodies as required;

- Supporting new regulatory-driven or dependent business initiatives and participating in new business approval processes, as well as assisting with the local implementation of global 

 The requirements for this position are:

- significant experience with a major European or international law firm or financial services organization (some experience at a regulator would be desirable),

- in depth knowledge of the EU regulatory regime applicable to the financial services industry and working experience of cross border issues, and

- expertise in one or more of the funds servicing, asset management and global markets areas.
