Energy Trading Business Analyst Job in Houston, Texas US
A Senior Business Analyst works with users and members of the Information Technology organizations. This person will also act as project manager for software development, deployment, and implementation projects, and must be able to effectively manage multiple projects. This person is responsible for understanding users’ business needs, capturing the domain expertise the user has, and accurately translating this into a succinct requirements analysis documents that will serve as the input to the development team.
The initial focus will be to lead and support the implementation of a credit management system. This implementation will require strong project management discipline, great business analysis skills and subject matter expertise. Ongoing, the primary responsibility for this role will be to support all IT back office developments by identifying and delivering improvements to business processes and system enhancements using BA and PM skills.

- Stay updated on related technology and potential efficiency quality enhancements
- Serve as an internal point of contact for the IT team whenever requirements need to be clarified
- Interface with IT teams during development to validate the solution against the requirements
- Act as a liaison with business users and the IT team to resolve technical issues
Testing
- Develop and implement test plans based on business requirements
- Acquire and/or create test data and business process scenarios
- Review/QA applications prior to submission for acceptance
- Train user’s during system acceptance testing
Implementation
- Manage implementation of new/upgraded systems for several business cycles, until steady state is reached – including software testing and user training
- Ensure full elimination of legacy systems
- Develop new business processes, including fallback operation modes
- Manage post implementation enhancements
- Prepare User Documentation/Operating Procedures as necessary
Experience
- Over 8 years’ experience in IT analysis and project management in an energy trading environment
- Hands on knowledge of credit and risk management business activities and systems
Development and Technology
- Experience of Energy Trading and Risk Management systems
- Experience of Credit Management systems
- Must have advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Visio
- Familiarity with standard IT application, database and infrastructure components
- Write basic SQL statements
