Financial Reporting and Accounting Officer recruitment
in support of the Bank’s implementation of the NER 300 initiative

The European Investment Bank supports the European Commission as an agent in the implementation of the NER 300 initiative - the world’s largest funding programme for carbon capture and storage demonstration projects and innovative renewable energy technologies. For the NER 300 project and within the framework of the financial accounting of the EIB Group, the Bank seeks candidates to evaluate the introduction of new accounting regulations (EUGAAP and IFRS) in order to formulate recommendations on their impact on the accounting policies and financial statements within the EIB Group and Third Party Mandates; to verify (four-eyes-principal) the checks and controls, executed by junior officers, in order to ensure accounts completeness and correctness; to carry out the analytical review of sections of the statutory reports in order to detect any anomaly/inaccuracies.
Accountabilities
- End to end responsibility for executing accounting control processes in order to ensure the accurate and timely production of the financial statements and other financial reports in compliance with the relevant EU directives and the International Accounting standards.
This includes :
-Prepare a profit and loss and balance sheet analytical review
-Highlight any significant or abnormal deviance to the Financial Control team for investigation or justification
-Make detailed check down to each currency level on interest income and accrued income
- Propose improvements or better compliance of accounting policies
- Contribute to the communication of strategies, policies and procedures throughout the organisation
- Maintain awareness of latest development in IFRS and European Directives on accounting standards
- Maintain external and internal relations relating to financial accounting
Qualifications
- University degree in accounting or related fields
- An internationally recognized professional accounting qualification or equivalent experience
- At least 3 to 5 years professional experience in accounting in the banking sector
- Very good knowledge of IFRS and of European Directives on accounting standards
- Knowledge of the concepts and terminology of financial risk hedging
- Knowledge of the software applications used at the Bank, in particular of Peoplesoft GL, Trema FK, Business Objects, and of the different interfaces between those applications
- Very good knowledge of the standard office tools
- Fluent in English and/or French and very good knowledge of the other language
