Team Overview:
 
The Portfolio Management Tools team are responsible for developing and supporting front office investment tools and technologies across a range of business areas at BlackRock. The team has a presence globally and prides itself on building innovative software solutions of exceptional quality. Software is designed and developed in house and team members are typically involved in all aspects of the lifecycle, from the analysis of business requirements through to design, development and implementation.
 
Job Purpose:
 
This position is for a Front Office Developer in the Model Based Fixed Income Tools team. The remit of the team is to develop, maintain and support the portfolio management tools at the heart of the Active Fixed Income Investment Platform. The team work directly with the Fixed Income portfolio management team and have the opportunity to learn the Business so they understand the sophisticated investment processes employed. 
 
This ensures that BlackRock technology is developed to an extremely high standard and is aligned closely with business requirements. 
 
The team uses SQL, data-warehousing techniques and BI Tools extensively. Java is used for server-side processes.
 
 
Responsibilites:
 

The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Partner with Portfolio Managers to analyze new requirements and identify improvements
- Learn the Quantitative and Fundamental Fixed Income investment processes
- Implement new functionality in the RACE Portfolio Management application, and related toolset

 

They will achieve this by:
- Contributing to the delivery of high quality software solutions following the team's Agile project  management process
- Working as a considerate global team player
- Analyzing, designing, coding, testing and building solutions ready for deployment to production
- Providing ongoing support and maintenance of the current environment and user base
- Employing industry best practices such as unit testing and continuous integration
- Proactively looking for ways to refine the efficiency of all team activities

 
 
Qualifications:
 
• Bachelor (or higher) in Computer Science, Mathematics or related technical subject
• Expertise in building SQL based database solutions, including modelling and tuning practices
• Data-warehousing design and/or BI Tools experience highly desired
• Core Java, including Spring and associated toolsets
• Experience of Object-oriented analysis and design principles
• A working understanding of the Asset Management industry, including Fixed Income instruments and OTC derivatives
