GLASS FURNANCE PROCESS ENGINEER- INDIANA
Premier glass products manufacturer needs professional to control glass furnace composition within specifications and improve glass melting and forming process.
DUTIES:
- Plant interface maintaining glass composition through documented procedures
- Develop experimental plans to evaluate methods to improve composition stability
- Manage cullet and guide Batch Furnace operations
- Support the Melting Production Department through weekly on-call
- Adheres to all Plant procedures and ISO requirements including the Quality Plan
- Plant interface with Analytical Services
- Control glass color transitions
- Control analytical and cullet related spending and maintain proper cutlet inventories.
- Manage cullet segregation and take action to avoid and prevent contamination
- Monitor daily activities to meet batching requirements
- Develop work instructions and RAS sheets as required for glass chemistry related tasks
- Manage Raw Materials inventories
· Supply Melting Department with data and theoretical support
· Develop experiment plans and process improvements
· Adhere to all plant procedures and ISO 9002 requirements
· Assure process runs to documented procedures
· Tour Melting, Mixing and Cave daily, including reading logbooks
· Reduce process variability and maintain efficient process standards.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4 year degree preferred.
- 3-10 yrs of glass products manufacturing experience
- Troubleshooting and evaluation of process and equipment specifications
- Basic knowledge of all aspects of glass from raw materials, furnaces processing
- Glass furnance analytical/troubleshooting skills
- Glass Technology documentation
- Coordination and approval of raw materials
- Recommendations for changes to process and quality procedures
- Experience with process capability studies and variability reduction.
· Experience troubleshooting furnace problems
· Recommendations for process and quality improvements
· Strong Computer skills (MS Word, Excel)
