Leads the integration of the GWS Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program at the account level and directs and supports JCI account management in the implementation and management of the resulting program and associated processes. This position specifically serves accounts in industries that have a complex EHS regulatory reporting requirement.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
- Implements GWS environmental, health, and safety and health procedures and processes including those associated with site/project start-ups. Modifies environmental, health, and safety programs to meet customer and account requirements/specifications.
- Identifies and evaluates hazardous conditions and practices at the site/project on an ongoing basis and develops hazard control practices and programs.
- Leads the account management in the investigation if incidents/injuries (including subcontractor injuries), and provides analysis of cause along with recommendations for corrective action. Completes, maintains and reports incident/injury information in accordance with GWS and Customer protocols.
- Partners with GWS Workers' Compensation Team to manage workers compensation cases, uses the Corporate EHS management system (e.g., CHESS or other designated system) to track cases and applies cost containment measures as necessary. Use Corporate EHS management system to track EHS Metrics.
- Tracks and analyzes account EHS statistics and makes recommendations for correction of problem areas. Establishes improvement actions/targets based on GWS and/or customer injury prevention goals and/or key performance indicators.
- Guides and assists account personnel in addressing and correcting environmental, health, and safety issues. Performs environmental, health, and safety audits and develops action plans to correct deficiencies. Works with account operations to execute action plan.
- Manages and builds upon the on-going relationship with federal, state and local EHS authorities and organizations. Prepares and submits federal, state and local EHS reporting requirements to appropriate authorities.
- Works in cooperation with Corporate EHS, Legal, and other industry specific representatives (i.e. utility plant owners) in regulatory scheduled sessions to ensure regulatory compliance, permit renewals, EMS and community relation issues are addressed.
- Performs environmental, health, and safety training of JCI account employees in accordance with company, federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and develops and conducts environmental, health, and safety training to address specific needs. Conducts new employee and subcontractor EHS orientation training and contributes to pre-construction and weekly construction meetings.
- Provides direction and leadership to JCI account management on regulatory (EPA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) issues including compliance, interpretations, inspections, and the investigation of notices of violations, notices of noncompliance and citation resolution.
- Provides oversight relative to subcontractor adherence to JCI environmental, health, and safety specifications. Determines whether subcontractors meet JCI pre-qualification criteria for EHS. Reviews and reinforces environmental, health, and safety programs with those subcontractors not meeting the minimum environmental, health, and safety criteria and provides direction for their improvement.
- Acts as a technical EHS resource for their assigned site/project and provides technical support for other assigned sites/projects as needed.
- Reviews all new work being proposed to the account for potential environment and safety impact. Determines appropriate environmental, health, and safety resources and develops the cost structure for the work being proposed. Works with GWS EHS to formulate an action plan when work is highly hazardous and/or outside of the company's core business from an EHS perspective.
- Keeps abreast of environmental, health, and safety industry best practices, and technological developments and equipment to remain up-to-date on EHS systems, devices and techniques designed to eliminate or minimize hazards. Keeps current on regulatory requirements pertaining to environmental, health, and safety.
- Leads project teams that address GWS-wide environmental, health, and safety issues to develop new processes and related materials, and to update existing programs.

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Management, Industrial Safety and Health, or related equivalent required. Minimum of three to five years experience working in General Industry, Industrial, and/or Construction environmental, health, and safety. Must demonstrate strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills as well as the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management. Ability to travel to conduct site evaluations and training.
