Background
Mugu District in Nepal has no provision of specialised maternal care. We aim to make reproductive health and maternal health services more accessible for women from Mugu who, in the absence of specialised reproductive and maternal health services, are dying or experiencing complications during childbirth. Based in Mugu District Hospital, in the Mugu District of Nepal, you will be working to make specialised reproductive and maternal health services available and accessible for women of reproductive age.

What does the role involve:
Provide clinical consultations and checkups for gynaecological and obstetric cases
Perform emergency C-Sections for patients in the hospital
Management of complicated obstetric cases
Perform routine gynaecological / obstetric operations

Skills, qualifications and experience required:
You can apply for this role if you are a qualified and registered gynaecologist with 5 years of specialist training (ST5 and above). Experience of providing reproductive / maternal health services in rural, remote areas in resource constrain environment, conducting c-sections for delivery, coaching and mentoring of junior doctors for capacity development and experience of conducting in-service training is essential. Desirable qualities are good interpersonal skills for relationship building in the community, you should be friendly, outgoing and sociable, open minded, non judgemental and patient. You should be motivated and capable of self-directed work with a strong desire to help the needy community. It would also be desirable for you to have a strong motivation to work in very remote setting and in a resource constrained environment.

The Mugu District based in the Karnali Zone, which is the largest zone of Nepal, is a beautiful mountainous area with two national parks. While on placement, we will ask you to commit to 12 months to make a sustainable contribution to our development goals. In return, we will give you comprehensive financial, personal and professional support. We will provide you with extensive training including language classes before your placement, and our financial package includes a local living allowance, return flights, accommodation, insurance and more. When you return to your home country, we will support you to resettle.
