Head of Business Critical Applications Support, major Commodity Trading organisation. Geneva.
This world leading oil and energy trader is looking for an accomplished yet ambitious individual to lead a globally distributed team of 10, this team is responsible for the support of existing systems as well as deployment of new business critical applications including ETRM (currently Triple Point CXL and Nova), shipping/freight and market data (Reuters, Bloomberg etc).
With the company’s continued global growth, successful business diversification and increased reliance on IT, IT’s strategy is to maintain full alignment with the company’s strategic direction, which is reflected in the IT strategic plan.
One such goal is the fine-tuning of the IT structure for ensuring more efficient delivery of the required services. As a result, a new section is being created to support the company’s Trading and other critical business applications. This managerial position will lead this new and important function.
In parallel, a trading systems modernization programme is being executed, which includes the introduction of new, state-of-the–art technologies for Trading front, middle and back office, meeting the company’s global and multi-commodity trading needs. The new Critical Business Applications Support section therefore, will also take a key role in the deployment and support of the new platforms globally.
This new position is a key IT line-management role reporting directly to the CIO and provides leadership to the Critical Business Applications Support team and associated services with global presence.
In addition to the management of this critical IT service, it also involves hands-on, client facing role with close collaboration with the various business units, particularly Trading desks and Operations/Shipping. The role will require the successful applicant to build a company wide network of relationships to build trust and collaboration within the business.
Required and Desirable skills/experience;
In depth knowledge of one or more leading ETRM system (preferably including TriplePoint CXL).
Extensive experience within a similar role to the described.
Strong people management skills and experience but with a hands on attitude towards day to day work.
Interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build relationships at every seniority level within a Global business.
Ability to work in a dynamic, constantly evolving environment and an entrepreneurial attitude.
General IT skills including SQL, understanding of database design and report generation from business applications.
Preferably experience of Nova (commodities ETRM)
Preferably experience with market data systems (reuters, Bloomberg etc)
Knowledge of French is an advantage
Preferably knowledge of business intelligence, data mining, data analysis.
ITIL desireable
