Head of Finance and Investment Accounting

This is a truly interesting and challenging role, responsible for (but not limited to):

Investment Accounting 

• Managing the back office supporting the in-house Investment Management operation with pro-active services, including, management of custody arrangements, processing trades, cash management, derivatives administration and performance measurement. Reviewing and updating internal processes as required ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

• Liaising with the CEO and with the Head of Investment Operations to ensure a robust service, with accurate reporting and data, is received by the Investment Team.

• Monitors services received from and reviews contracts with the Scheme’s custodian banks and other third parties.

• Maintenance of the systems that monitor the accuracy of financial records at the custodian banks.

• Oversight of the stock lending program.

• Participation at Investment Committee meetings, preparing papers and ensuring internal processes updated to reflect Trustee decisions.

• Ensuring the Property Portfolio is properly accounted for.

Accounting, Risk and Audit

• Ensuring that all FSA and Pensions Regulator financial requirements are met.

• Lead an accounting team of 12 staff, ensuring a robust control environment with appropriate segregation of duties.

• Provide comprehensive independent asset valuations using internal and external resources.

• Annual Statutory reporting for the Schemes and subsidiary companies, liaising with Auditors, legal advisers and external authorities as required.

• Production of internal management reports, annual budgets and control of expenditure against these.

• Manage the Risk Control Framework, reporting to the Trustees.

• Development and implementation of annual IA plan, reporting to the Exec Risk Committee.

• Manage the monthly payroll process.

The successful applicant will be a Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA accountant with senior management experience gained from an Investment Management or Pensions Accounting environment.  You will offer a wide skillset, including a good knowledge of the Banking and Investment Management sector and of the requirements of the FSA and Pensions Regulator.  ‘Hands-on’ in approach with attention to detail, you will be energetic and astute, a superb communicator and will have the drive and determination to relish a challenging and varied role like this.  Please only apply if you genuinely have these characteristics, to our retained recruitment partner, Finn Laurens, on 020 8546 5544 or by email to Andy.Hardy@finnlaurens.com
