We are currently looking to recruit a Head of Major Risk Management to join our Operational Risk Team.

Your role will be to improve the effectiveness of Operational Risk management in the bank and to meet specific expectations of the FSA with regard to the potential for major losses. To achieve this you will develop and deliver the methods of identification and assessment for major exposures of the bank to risks of corporate significance. The purpose is to ensure senior management are knowledgeable about the risks and that the bank is resilient to them.

As a Head of Major Risk Management your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

Track record of successful delivery in a similar role in investment or corporate banking, risk management or corporate development.
Broad industry knowledge covering all aspects of the banking industry including that ability to foresee the effects of risk events and future economic, political, societal and technological environments.
Solid experience of Stress Testing, Scenario Analysis and Capital Adequacy modelling
Good knowledge and experience of modelling for capital adequacy, the effects of risk events on the balance sheet etc.
Knowledge of some of the activities of specialist functions such as Finance, Risk, IT and Marketing etc. to source specialist contributions and information.
Ability to challenge and validate information.
Ability to present information in concise and informative ways.
Ability to structure information for presentational purposes.
Ability to facilitate workshops and meetings across a wide variety of business contexts.
Capable of innovatory and pragmatic approaches to achieve results.
Degree in analytical disciplines would be an advantage.

As a Head of Major Risk Management you will:

Work with internal stakeholders and with data sources to identify and develop the critical risks facing the bank.
To implement the structure and methodologies for risk assessment of major exposures.
To ensure new and emerging major exposures are identified by monitoring major Santander projects and initiatives for strategic risks and using external sources of information and expertise to identify and evaluate risks arising from economic, political, societal and technological developments.
To develop practices which enable new scenarios to be identified and assessed within a reasonable time.
To develop a first set of scenarios for assessment to use to pilot the process.
To develop a scenario schedule for all scenarios.
To track progress against plan and manage change control.
To develop and implement the governance process for the Scenario Analysis activity.
Monitor the results of risk assessments and scenario analyses.
Ensure the bank meets regulatory requirements and expectations for the control of major risks.
