IB Risk Control Operations – Team Leader recruitment
The Risk Control function safeguards the global reputation and preserves the long-term interests of UBS by controlling the risk exposure of the Investment Bank. As part of the Risk Control Operations team, you will ensure that new and existing business is accurately captured and risk is managed so that the firm is adequately protected from unacceptable exposures.
Risk Control Operations has the following key responsibilities:
- Performing regular controls thus ensuring data quality across the Credit and Market Risk infrastructure.
- Analysing material movements in risk exposure to determine reasonableness and drivers.
- Input and maintenance of Risk owned data, including internal ratings and limit points.
- Providing support to the Risk community for exposure, data, and system queries.
- Managing exposures, especially those in excess of Risk appetite.
This is a Team Leader role with primary responsibility for Credit and Market Risk Data Management, supervision of Risk Control’s operational processes, Risk Officer Support and Change Management within the APAC region.
Working closely with Derivatives Middle Office responsibilities also include the oversight of the completeness, quality and integrity of data being fed into the Risk systems and ensuring compliance with our control frameworks.
Although predominantly a Run-The-Bank role, the Risk environments are currently going through significant strategic change, incorporating a complete re-platforming and re-definition of associated business processes and the successful candidate will be required to provide key operational input into the future state operating model.
Your job will include:
- First line support for IB Risk Officers within the APAC region.
- Management and co-ordination of change projects through the front to back project lifecycle for Front Office and New Business Change initiatives for Risk Control within the APAC region.
- Line management responsibility for the Risk Operations and Support teams in APAC.
- Managing the performance and effectiveness of the team in Singapore and contributing to the effectiveness of the related RCO processes as managed in London and the Poland Service Centre.
- Building and maintaining solid working relationships with all our stakeholder groups across all levels of seniority.
- Responsibility for defining and driving the implementation of new business processes and improving the existing operating model.
- Change project related activities such as involvement in defining business requirements and completion of User Acceptance Testing.
- Close liaison with other functions across UBS, including IB Ops, Middle Office and Front Office support teams, IT and change project teams.
Requirements:
Our ideal candidate should have the following requisites:
- 3-5+ years of experience in Audit/Ops/Risk control processing role with supervisory role
- Proficient English communication skills both written and verbal a must
- Risk oriented personality who has the ability to differentiate borderline risk issues from critical fraudulent behavior and balances the need to escalate where necessary versus pragmatic business as usual activity
- Proficient in basic Microsoft applications as well as Telephony equipment
- Detail oriented, experienced in managing reducing risk, developed analytical skills, strong listening capabilities
- Open to continuous learning and continuous education both within the team and with Markets
- Proactive, independent, highly motivated, well-organized, client-oriented individual
- Demonstrate creative approach to problem solving challenge existing proceesses to drive improvements
- Additional language skills such as Cantonese, Hindi, Bahasa or European languages (German, French, Italian, Thai) a plus
