Infrastructure Lead

• Direct supervision of multiple technicians on a daily basis including prioritizing work assignments, performance evaluations and any disciplinary issues.
• Serve as subject matter expert for operational tasks and trainer for each of the data center shifts.
• Manage the escalation of incidents in a timely and efficient manner following established guidelines; ensure incidents are accurately reported to management; and ensure each incident is formally documented.
• Manage growth of the team by building on the existing skill base and optimizing resource usage.
• Manage projects for the team or work with project managers to allocate resources efficiently and complete projects on time and within budget.
• Drive continuous improvement activities across all service metrics.
• Maintain proper Change Management methodology for the data center.
• Drive continuous improvement in DCE policies, processes and procedures.
• Report data center status in weekly data center meetings.
• Liaison with client groups (i.e. Unix, Server Services, LAN).
• Ensure that the technical environment is properly monitored and that any problems are rectified.
• Track capacity trends and escalate to appropriate teams when thresholds exceeded.
• Generate weekly Capacity Report and represent New York in Capacity meetings.
• Communicate upper management messages and initiatives at team level.
• Work with support teams to ensure that key data center technologies and/or processes are delivered to meet customer objectives.
• Provide coaching and career development guidance to engineers.
• Ensure staff receives appropriate training and tools to perform duties.
• Instill sense of ownership and pride in operations staff; ensure team members demonstrate professionalism and accountability.
 

• Required:
  o B.A./B.S. or Low Voltage Union Apprenticeship.
  o Minimum of five (5) years professional experience in data center design, planning and construction.
  o Must hold high level knowledge of data center cable management, cabinet layout, electrical and mechanical systems.
  o Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels.
  o Must be familiar with AutoCad, 3D modeling, MS Project, Excel and Visio.
  o Understanding of IEEE specifications for systems and network cabling.
