Position Description

Now is your opportunity to be a summer intern in Boeing, a cutting edge global aerospace company. Boeing is not only the leader in commercial airplanes but is also a leader in defense, space and security systems. The current 737, 747, 767 and 777 jetliners, the new 787 Dreamliner; the F/A-18 Super Hornet and the F-15 Strike Eagle fighters; the Apache, Chinook and V22 Osprey rotorcraft; the C-17 Globemaster transport; the Space Shuttle, the International Space Station, satellite space systems; these are all Boeing products. Summer interns will work on these and related types of products and supporting technology to develop technical and leadership skills and to experience a challenging introduction to engineering careers within the Boeing Company while having hands on experience.

This requisition is for internships in the Structural/Mechanical/Assembly area within Boeing Research Technology (BRT). BRT is a research and technology organization that supplies new technology to current and future Boeing programs. Tasks within this organization include definition of requirements for materials, standard mechanical parts and processes used in the manufacture of products. Evaluation of emerging technologies for potential application to business needs. Development and qualification of new materials, standard mechanical parts and processes to meet requirements. Tests and audits to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements. Failure analysis of materials, parts or processes and implementation of corrective and preventive actions. Applied research and testing for new mechanical standards, the development of manufacturing processes, methods, equipment and tools used to fabricate and assemble current and future aircraft structures. Apply basic engineering and scientific principles to help resolve technical problems that affect performance, cost, and schedule. Will work in a lab environment and interact with manufacturing and other engineering disciplines. This is a terrific environment for someone working on a Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Material Science Engineering Bachelor of Science or Master of Science and wants to gain experience in industry in supporting commercial and military programs.

Ability to prepare written reports, specifications, data, data analysis; to prepare and compile test reports to support recommendations, qualifications and certifications. Ability to work in a team environment, follow instructions and research related topics. Able to collect, organize, synthesize and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources. Good communication skills (oral and written).

Basic Qualifications For Consideration
