Job Summary Responsibilities
BUSINESS UNIT OVERVIEW
Internal Audit independently assesses the firm’s internal control structure. We provide assurance that financial reporting is reliable, that there is compliance with applicable laws and regulations and that the firm’s operations are effectively controlled. We assist management in commercially managing risk by providing advice in developing control solutions and monitoring the implementation of management’s control measures. IA assists the firm’s Board of Directors’ Audit Committee in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities and regularly interacts with the external independent auditors.
Internal Audit is organised into global teams of business and technology auditors:
•Capital Markets - covers the firm’s Securities, Investment Banking and Global Investment Research businesses.
•Investment Management - covers the firm’s Private Wealth Management, Asset Management and Merchant Banking businesses.
•Corporate - covers the firm’s Risk Management, Corporate Governance, Finance, Legal, Compliance and Regulatory Reporting areas.
•Enterprise - covers Human Capital Management, Services and the Executive Office.
RESPONSIBILITIES
•Project management and execution of risk based audits:
oPlanning and scoping audits, meeting with key people within the area being audited to understand the business and technology processes and identifying the key risks and controls to be assessed.
oPreparation of the audit testing program and assessment of the adequacy of the design and operation of the controls associated with the key risks identified.
oAssessment of the risks and impact of the issues identified and production and presentation of the audit report to management.
oFollow up and tracking of remediation of management action plans to address issues identified during audits.
•Client relationship management:
oMaintenance and development of assigned internal client relationships.
oContinuous monitoring of assigned business areas and ongoing risk assessment to feed into the overall risk based audit plan.
oAd hoc work on firmwide risk/control projects around new processes or activities and investigation of incidents.
•Maintenance and development of Internal Audit relationships:
oOngoing liaison and coordination within Internal Audit colleagues globally
o Knowledge sharing
oPeople development
•External stakeholder engagement:
oOngoing interaction and liaison with Audit Committees, Regulators, External Auditors
Basic Qualifications
-Qualified accountant or other relevant background.
-Min. 7 years of relevant experience of auditing Securities business (equities, fixed income, foreign currency, commodities and their derivatives) and related middle and back office support functions.
