An opportunity for an accomplished Investment/Financial Analyst has arisen to join our Suncorp General Insurance business, where you will work with a team of motivated finance professionals who are dedicated to delivering exceptional results to our shareholders.
Working with a dedicated team, the primary purpose of this role is to provide timely and accurate measurement, monitoring, analysis and reporting of the risks and performance of the Investment Portfolios of the General Insurance business. In addition, the successful applicant will provide customers timely and accurate investment reporting and analysis over monthly, quarterly and financial year periods including insightful commentary of the performance and risk of the General Insurance Technical Reserves and Shareholders Funds asset portfolios. This involves the following responsibilities:
Reporting and Analysis will include but not be limited to:
- Investment portfolio and mismatch performance attribution
- Cash flow movements
- Changes in portfolio construction/management strategy
- Major counterparty exposures and exposure to stressed entities
- Economic overview and market factors
- Yield curve stress testing and impacts on capital
- Financial Markets Commentary
- Analyse and investigate trends, variances and exceptions in risk exposures, liquidity measures, performance results, and provide high quality clarifications and explanations within reporting.
- Undertake scenario analysis and forecasting for the investment portfolios and Balance Sheet
- Ownership and understanding of investments and the capital consequences of Investment related decisions. Calculate Capital charges as they relate to Balance Sheet exposures and investment allocations under relevant regulatory requirements
- Build, upgrade and refine existing financial models based on changing business requirements focusing on balance sheet, investments, cash optimisation and liquidity.
- Maintain and validate the successful dataflow of accurate and relevant investment performance and risk reporting underlying data produced and provided by Custodians (Internal and External).
- Assist with the preparation of data for ad hoc activities including but not limited to reviews of investment strategy and hedging positions
This is a key role and a rare opportunity to join the Suncorp Group in a role with high visibility across the organisation. Degree qualified in a related field (Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, and Actuarial Studies), you will possess at least 3 years experience in a similar position where you would have gained knowledge across a range of financial instruments and risk management practices, systems and controls. A proven track record of driving efficiencies and enabling performance is essential as exemplary stakeholder management skills. Being of high integrity, you will demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and a willingness to add value to the organisation.
