Investment Operations Manager

This will be a wide-ranging and challenging new role, responsible to the Board’s Chief Investment Officer. As the successful candidate, you will advise, plan, manage and report on all the administrative and operational aspects of the Board’s investment arrangements and have close involvement with the Board’s Chief Executive and the Chairman of its investment committee.

Your main areas of responsibility will be:

Policy implementation – Putting into effect the investment decisions of the Investment Committee and the Board, protecting the Board’s interests and reputation with thorough legal due diligence on new fund management agreements. Recommending and managing arrangements for transitions between asset classes.

Custody – Managing all aspects of the Board’s relationship with its custodian, ensuring the Board’s assets are secure and properly accounted for. You will have oversight of the investment accounting and unit pricing for the Board’s common investment fund, in conjunction with the Financial Accountant.

Reporting – Producing standard operational reports for Investment Committee and Board meetings, and monthly and quarterly internal management reports.

Cash management – Forecasting of cash flows, investment of cash assets and management of the Board’s currency hedging programme.

Office management – Setting and monitoring of the Investment Department’s annual budgets. Making practical arrangements for Investment Committee meetings and other general administrative tasks.

The Board is looking for someone with proven ability in the following areas:

• Significant knowledge and practical experience of investment work gained in a senior role, or roles, in a ‘back’ or ’middle’ office function in fund management, institutional investment, or custody operations.

• Understanding of the legal and accounting aspects of pensions and investments.

• Dealing with administrative and legal complexity.

• Designing, planning and implementing administrative systems.

You will need to have a degree, or equivalent, and at least have passed the IMC or CFA level 1.
