Description

The primary role of the Trade Capture Supervisor is to effectively oversee and ensure the accurate processing and maintenance of all trades on to the Banks Custody Platform, GSP.

As Supervisor, they will be directly responsible for 2-3 reports, of varying experience. The Supervisor will be expected to perform regular monthly 121 sessions and mid/end of year reviews, in addition to effective development goal setting.

There is also an expectation to lead projects and represent the department to both internal and external stakeholder groups, such as Audit and Client Visits.

The Supervisor will work in close conjunction with the Section Managers to understand their responsibilities and involvement, with the view to having a clear succession plan in place.

The Supervisor will establish themselves as the go to contact point for complex queries and items for escalation in the absence of the Trade Capture manager.

Responsibilities:

People Management

Direct responsibility over 2-3 reports across the Custody team.

Responsible for their performance plans, development goal setting and conducting regular monthly 121 sessions with each report; feeding back any issues to the management team.

Resource Management

Assist the management team to manage and motivate resource and ensure the team works with colleagues in other operational functions to meet business needs and deliver strategic objectives.

Support any recruitment requirements through interviewing and scribing.

Relationship Building

Build and maintain relationships with other areas and individuals within the complete process cycle to ensure an efficient operating model for the onward transmission to the users of trade capture data.

Establish themselves as a point of escalation both internally within the team and externally with other functions.

Vendor/ Client Presentations Projects

Create and deliver presentations to existing and/or potential clients as well as internal and external auditors to explain or demonstrate the working model to external stakeholders.

Lead projects and represent the department on calls and in meetings, with support from Section Managers. Ensure risk to the department is minimised and issues escalated to management in a timely manner with minimal impact to project deadlines.

Trade Processing

Ensure the accurate processing of manual trades, with focus on providing feedback and recommendations thereby reducing the risk of erroneous data being utilised.

Successful repair of all trades that have failed to go STP (Straight Through Processing). Investigating the fail reason and taking appropriate action to ensure trades are released and available for settlement in a timely manner.

Query Resolution

Receive, instigate and resolve queries and escalations from other operational areas, thereby ensuring the ongoing support of the clients needs and reduction in potential impact to the successful and timely settlement of trades.

Adherence to deadlines and SLAs

Oversight of the teams BAU activity, to support adherence to all intraday market deadlines and internal SLAs, ensuring any financial and reputational impact to the client is minimised.

Qualifications

Person specification:

- Excellent people-management skills

- Strong Interview technique

- Resilient and flexible to change

- Good communicator

- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel would be advantageous

- Ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines

- Accuracy and close attention to detail is a pre-requisite

- Forward thinking proactive in making effective changes

- Actively visible supportive during intraday deadline periods

Experience:

- Previous experience in a financial services environment - desirable.

- Previous experience in a supervisory role desirable.

Qualifications Training:

- Minimum education to GCSE level or equivalent - 5 passes (including English and Mathematics) - essential.

- A Levels / Degree - preferable

- Prepared to complete industry qualifications as required essential

This role is captured by BNY Mellon's Training and Competence (TC) scheme which requires you to attain competence in the role within 24 months and maintain competence thereafter. You must comply with the Company's policies and procedures in place to ensure compliance with such requirements.
