Job Title: IT Application Administrator

Location: San Mateo, CA

Terms: Contractor

Duration: 4 months duration with possibility of extension

Compensation: Based On Experience

 

Position Overview

This position is responsible for configuration, monitoring, upgrades, deployment, troubleshooting, and overall support in a multi-tiered and SaaS-based computing environment for enterprise applications, custom web-based applications, and off-the-shelf applications. The ideal candidate will have working experience in the area of web applications support as well as experience in troubleshooting a variety of technical issues.

 

Responsibilities

 

Project Implementation

·         Contributing to large teams in the execution of project deliverables.

·         Coordinating upgrade, application delivery, and a variety of other projects that may not have a dedicated project manager.

·         Application installation/configuration based on best practice standards

·         Working with business customers to develop requirements, establish and meet deadlines, and create SLAs/support escalation procedures.

·         Documentation creation for both end-users and teammates.

·         Cross Training teammates to move Application from the implementation stage to the on-going support stage

·         Establishing SLAs, folding application support into team concept

 

Application Support

·         Work with software developers, DBA’s, Security teams, System Engineers, and Network Engineers to troubleshoot application development and system issues as they arise in custom web applications, off-the-shelf applications, and Enterprise Applications

·         Keep environments up to date with appropriate service packs, components and drivers.

·         Processing application security requests other ad hoc application requirements as needed

·         Add/change/delete user accounts and responds to Helpdesk inquiries on applications under support.

·         Respond to, as well as create modify monitoring tools for critical production applications.

·         Perform trend analysis as needed to baseline expected performance for new applications/processes.

·         Identifying key application performance indicators and designing monitors using one or more of several in-house tools.

·         Manage a queue of reporting and analyses requests and fulfill those requests either within the bounds of the target system or in a centralized reporting environment.

·         24x7 availability as part of a shared on-call rotation

 

Deployment

·         Create Deployment procedures and documentation to pass to Operations team.

·         Train Operations team on new Deployment/Operational procedures.

·         Work with Operations team as an escalation if issues arise with Deployment activity.

 

Required Qualifications

·         BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent combination of training

·         6-8 years of overall IT Application Support experience is required

·         Fundamental understanding of Software Development Life Cycle

·         Fundamental understanding of Web Server technology, specifically Microsoft IIS Microsoft Office SharePoint Services (2007 or 2010)

·         Basic Understanding of database environments (MS SQL, Oracle)

·         Basic Understanding of the Windows 2008 Operating System

·         Customer and team oriented

·         Strong Multi-tasking and prioritization skills

·         Strong analytical and problem solving skills

·         24 x 7 availability during on-call shift, and to support any applications you are SME on that haven’t been folded into standard support model

 

Nice To Have Skills

·         Basic understanding of web development, including .Net/C#, ASP and Java

·         Basic understanding of middleware applications such as MS Application Center, Biztalk, Commerce Server, Enterprise Service Bus, etc.

·         Support of professional services tools (timecards, expense reports, project management)

·         Support of Financial tools (GL, AP, AR, Revenue Recognition)

·         Any exposure to Intacct, SalesForce.com, SharePoint, WSG Empire, RightNow
