Director of Information Technology Services

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) seeks a dynamic, business minded, Director of Information Technology Services (ITS).  The ideal candidate will have a passion for the performing arts while also possessing strong analytical, engineering, leadership and communications skills and the ability to think strategically. The Oregon Shakespeare Festival is located in Ashland in southern Oregon’s Rogue Valley region, produces eleven plays in an 8½ month season each year, has 600 employees and a budget of $30 Million. OSF is regarded as one of the national leaders in the area of theatre technology innovation.

Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to managing information systems and computing resources for the entire organization while recognizing new developments in information systems technology; identifying long-term needs for information services in order to create a reliable infrastructure that demonstrates value to our company members; ensuring confidentiality and reliability of company data, proprietary information and intellectual property; serving as a liaison between upper management, users and technology staff; supervising ITS employees; budget preparation and management; and developing guidelines, standards and procedures. The Director of Information Technology Services is responsible for both strategic planning of ITS and technical implementation. The person in this position plays a key role in helping the organization achieve its artistic, revenue, and contributed income goals through collaboration with staff and support of technology in these areas. A bachelor's degree is required, preferably in the field of computer science or related field. Seven years of management experience in a complex technology environment is required as well as demonstrated ability to successfully manage a team of information technology staff that performs in a fast-paced support and development environment (additional work experience may be considered in lieu of the education requirement). Broad base of technical knowledge in IT systems and emerging technology trends and issues is required and experience in an arts and/or entertainment industry environment would be a huge plus. Collaborative skills to work effectively with artists, staff and senior management in areas other than technology to develop and implement appropriate uses of technology are necessary. Expert knowledge of TCP/IP WANs and LANs, SharePoint, desktop support systems, MS Exchange, VMware servers, SANs, firewalls, remote access VPNs, PBX systems and other popular business applications is necessary. Experience with theatre, museum, entertainment and/or arts -specific software packages, such as Tessitura, BlackBaud, Artifax and T-Stats is a plus. The desire to work in a non-profit, arts environment is a desirable characteristic in the ideal candidate.
