Java Support Team Leader Job in Melbourne 3000, Victoria Australia

My client, an iconic Australian organisation, requires a Java team leader to manage a team that provides application support services for a portfolio of in-house and 3rd party J2EE developed applications.

You will be responsible for providing technical leadership for J2EE application technologies, ensuring that incidents and problems are resolved in line with established KPI’s and SLA’s, Managing the maintenance change program for the applications in the portfolio and ensuring continuous improvement initiatives are raised and executed to improve overall service

Your responsiblities will include but not be limited to:

• Ensuring identification and correction of incidents, including root cause analysis to achieve and maintain service level expectations.
• Project and Minor Works Estimations
• Day-to-day management of staff including performance, skills development and succession planning
• Staff mentoring and coaching
• Regular reporting of support statistics, major incidents and permanent corrective actions.
• Consulting to the business to provide SME advice at a business and technical level

The successful candidate will have:

• Extensive previous experience working in large complex and diverse IT environment, including:
o Multiple years experience as an Application Support Team Leader or Manager role
o Multiple years experience developing and/or supporting applications in a Java/J2EE based environment
• Proven practical experience in implementing and supporting enterprise application solutions
• Proven experience with interfacing to relational databases (particularly Oracle, SQL Server)
• Web application development experience delivering Java/J2EE applications using technologies, such as: Struts, Spring, Hibernate, EJB, JSP, Servlet, Ant
• Strong understanding of J2EE application servers eg Weblogic, Tomcat
• Understanding of Object Oriented Analysis and Design architecture modeller (UML, XSD)
• Tertiary qualification in information technology or business related discipline
